Millie Gleeson - Goddess

My inspiration has primarily come from other worldly sources, anything that conjures vivid imagery and takes you into another realm, perhaps even beyond being human. Fascinated by the spiritual and ethereal, I’ve immersed myself in astrology, mythology, symbols and tarot, all giving me an inner compass with which to navigate.

I embarked on this series through a deeply transformative time in my life. I immersed myself with stories, messages and lessons that were out there, universal, in the cosmos… until I realised they were all around me. I began to see archetypal patterns in my friends, through the challenges they faced and lessons they learnt, how I personally experienced them and what in turn they taught me.

Each representing something unique, yet something we shared, I wanted to capture these women; my friends in a dramatic, commanding way with an essence of ethereal and mythological content. In the cathartic process of painting these women, stories, lessons, I started to uncover aspects of self and other, ancient and otherworldly, yet aspects of all women.
