Below is the first completed illustration for a children's storybook collaboration with a Brighton based author. The image is a full page and depicts a key scene in the story where the protagonist is stranded in a rough sea after a fishing trip.

Below are a couple of rough sketches produced to begin discussions with the author regarding the aesthetic of the illustrations when produced in the style I work in - brushed ink with digital colouring.
After initially discussing working on the project together I began some simple sketchbook images of birds at sea as I witnessed them from where I was in Spain at the time. The story eventually features a seagull, and were merely observational drawings for myself as I became inspired by the project.
