Time Will Tell was initiated during a 3 month artist residency in Berlin. The project was my immediate response to the showcased history and raw energy the city presented. I became fascinated by the visual markers of passing time; the Berlin wall, gunshot and aged buildings, graffiti, layered posters.
Using the people I encountered as models I created characters and silhouettes that reflected this transformative energy and featured them in Berlins abandoned buildings.
In amongst the ruins stand strong defiant figures. Powerful Queens who rise up from the ashes of their collapsed empire; like the resurrection of the phoenix. The ouroboros signifies the cyclic process of time, the snake creates an endless self-supporting system, renewing itself through death and re-birth. Holding together and harmonising the opposites of life & death, light & dark, destruction & creation. Transformation is the process of growth and decay which takes place in nature, giving the ability to rise in a series of different forms.
